Care Home Worker Award Winner

We are proud to announce that Andy Kessler, Maintenance Manager at Stowford House Care Home, part of the Future Care Group, has won the Care Home Worker Award at The Oxfordshire Care Awards 2022!
Andy is constantly going above and beyond his maintenance role. He is inspired by even the smallest idea and responds with a fabulous project which is always phenomenally executed.
During the pandemic, he did something particularly special – he created a beautiful commemorative-stained glass window in memory of the residents we lost during the pandemic.
Andy took on the task of making the stained-glass window after the team felt that due to the pandemic, they had been unable to say goodbye to the residents they lost or commiserate with their families.
The window – which started as no more than a sheet of clear perspex – was transformed into a work of art with 24 individual panes each depicting the initials of a resident we lost, as well as a memory of them that the staff hold dear.
The final piece is absolutely beautiful and it was met with tears of delight from the relatives.
Andy is also just the nicest man too. He has a brilliant rapport with both residents and staff. He is never too busy to give them time and is always attentive and patient. Colleagues know that he is always there, and all agree that he’s an absolute star. Whatever challenge is presented to him, he will take it on and ensure he gives it his all.

He has a wonderful personality and his craftmanship and workmanship are something to be admired. He really is amazing, I’ve found over my years that some workmen have to be asked twice. Not Andy, he just gets the job done, and he always listens.”
Care Assistant JH said: “I support Andy being nominated for this award. He is very hands on and no job is too much or too difficult. He is always chatting to the residents while he works and making sure everything is as it should be.”
