Pet therapy

Pet therapy has fantastic effects on a person due to the calming nature of animals. Animals can be quite soothing and can help a person living with dementia communicate, speak and articulate themselves better when they are feeling comfortable. Residents of Oaklands House, part of the Future Care Group, had the pleasure of holding, smoothing and feeding two guinea pigs – Oreo and Leo. Other residents enjoyed meeting a dog called Maisie which was an emotional moment for one of our residents.
