St. Patrick’s Day Oaklands House

For St. Patrick’s Day Oaklands House was decorated throughout with flags, shamrocks and posters which made the home look really vibrant in the white, orange and green colours. Our chef served a lovely stew for lunch which was enjoyed by everyone. We had various activities in the morning; quizzes, colouring, word searches and crosswords.

In the afternoon Singer Debbie Cobbett entertained our residents with a rendition of songs, old time music, vintage jazz and swing, hits from across the decades and a few Irish songs thrown in. Some residents joined in with singing, dancing and clapping, while others used a musical instrument. The room was filed with excitement and elation.

Afternoon tea was served with homemade Irish themed Guinness and chocolate flavoured cupcakes. Everyone commented that they tasted delicious.

A fun packed day was had by all.
