Acacia Lodge Staff Recreate Peter Kay Iconic Music Video for BBC’s Big Night In

Nurses, care and domestic staff at Acacia Lodge care home have dressed up and recreated the iconic Comic Relief music video to Tony Christie’s smash hit, “(Is This The Way To) Amarillo” for the BBC’s Big Night In.

Emma Busby (dressed as a carrot) saw the call out on the website for people to send in their own videos of marching and dancing to the original track.

Emma was joined by Lisa Parker (strawberry), Lebo Mapune (banana), Sally Mohammed (pineapple), Holly Burt (duck), Sharon Hester (rabbit), Jo Smith (penguin), Jeanette Dunn (chicken) and Lynda Vincent (fox). The video was filmed with the vegetables and fruit marching and singing to the first floor residents and the wildlife to the dementia residents on the ground floor.

Wendy Fricker, Activities Co-ordinator at Acacia Lodge said, “When Emma suggested it, I said to her come and have a look at the activities wardrobe which is full of costumes. I keep an eye on Amazon and eBay and buy costumes as they are always handy to have to cheer up the residents. Emma decided on which costumes we would use. It was a lot of fun for everyone and put a smile on the residents’ faces in these difficult times and many were clapping and dancing along.
