Autumn decoration making

Like all Future Care homes, we have a dedicated Activity Team who create an enriching activity programme to provide social, psychological and physical stimulation to our residents, that line with our belief of inspiring moments of joy.

Nicoleta, our Activity Coordinator, did a lovely activity with residents over the weekend. Nicoleta said “I picked colourful leaves falling from the trees. I brought some chestnuts and two little pumpkins. My first intention was to make with the residents an autumn decor…. First, we kept the chestnuts in the hands, enjoying their sheen and their wonderful texture. After that, the magic began and memories began to flow”

This activity brought back memories of residents who recalled childhood games with chestnuts, with a couple reporting they associated chestnuts with the first day of school! They reminisced about first teachers, about parents and siblings, friends, about first pets and how it was the life in those times…

Residents then looked at the leaves, and admired their wonderful colours and talked about the similarity between people and leaves. About how beautiful, how colourful are the elderly people given their life experience. And that all you have to do is take your time, stop the road, see them and pick up their life stories.
