Caraway Church Service

Oaklands House Care Centre residents enjoyed the Caraway Church Service, held via Zoom in our cinema room, and hosted by Erica, the Chaplain of the Highfield Church in Southampton.

They provided our residents with an order of service, colouring pictures, Jesus Calms the Storm word-search and instructions on how to make a Origami Boat which was today’s topic from Jesus’ walks on water, which also involves a boat on the lake. The symbolism behind the story of Jesus calming the storm should bring great encouragement and hope for anyone facing a storm in life.

The welcome and opening sentence, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

The Service included Reflections and Readings, some of which were read by Parishioners, Hymns and Prayers.  The Hymns included “Lord, of all hopefulness”, “Jesus Calms the Storm” Dear Lord and Father of Mankind”, and “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” One of today’s readings: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

The last part of the service encouraged us to recite The Lord’s Prayer together. All the Residents in the group involved found the Service to be interesting and informative and singing the hymns uplifting.
