Celebrating Mother’s Day at Kings Lodge

Motherhood, one of the most powerful words and experiences, reflects differently on each mother and is one of the most sacred journeys you will travel in life. But what does it actually mean? What is motherhood? And what does it mean to be a mother? At Kings Lodge Nursing Home, we had lovely reminiscence talks with our residents about their mums, their most memorable moments with mum, and motherhood itself.

There were varieties of wonderful heartwarming memories shared:

“My mum was a nice, dressed lady, she was a good mum. She lost her memory, and I was looking after her.”

“My memories about my mum are wonderful. She was a very gentle and kind person. We are 5 sisters; my mum was very happy having us. My mum was working in the factory, working night shifts and daytime looking after us. She was working in the pottery factory. My special moment to remember about my mum is her birthdays when we all were gathering to wish her a happy birthday.”

“My mum was a very lovely lady. Very kind and very good to us. Mum was strict in a very nice way. Mum was looking after me and my brothers and sister; she never worked until later in life. Mum did ironing and sewing for people.”

“My mum was making clothes for me and herself. She worked as a cleaner and in the kitchen at school. I have 1 brother. My mum was preparing all the celebrations and was making cakes for us. I have a lovely memory of going to the beach with my family. It was a beautiful, sunny day; we did enjoy swimming in the sea and eating ice creams. I have a son myself, as I can remember I was a very strict mum.”

These are just a few of many wonderful memories; the list goes on and on…

Kings Lodge Nursing Home was filled with joy, warm emotions, and smiles. Our Lifestyle Teams were as messengers of love and heartwarming feelings delivering flowers and Mother’s Day cards to our wonderful residents.

In the afternoon, we had the most amazing tea, cakes, and a bit of bubbly gathering in our Tearoom. The room was filled with lovely music, sweet chit chats, warm smiles, giggles, and laughter. Our ladies could indulge themselves having freshly made scones with cream and jam, various cupcakes, and raise a glass of bubbly for MUMS, GRANDMAS, and MOTHERHOOD itself.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY LADIES!!

“A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity. It dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path.” – Agatha Christie
