Residents at Oaklands celebrated the life of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by watching her state funeral along with the rest of the nation, paying their respects, and joining in with the two minutes of silence. Residents who take daily prayers had a special prayer read to them for the Queen. Lots of conversations were had about how wonderful Queen Elizabeth had been as our monarch for so many years. Reminiscence sheets and pictures were used to aid discussions. One resident, Rose, also remembered the state funeral of King George VI. Chef Sarah made a special cake to mark the occasion. Residents joined in with a toast in memory of a wonderful Queen. God bless the Queen.
