Coronation Cake

Acacia Care Centres Special Coronation Cake!

Our lovely resident Catriona, with the help from her daughter Caitlin, re-created a cake she made with her mother back in 1953 for the Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.

Catriona was 17 years old at the time and as she was attending St Martin’s School of Art, she would have had a hand in cake decoration. Caitlin said her mum has often spoken about the cake her mother Lily made for the street party.

It was a special moment for both to be able to do the same cake for King Charles III’s Coronation and to share it with all of us. Beautiful cake that residents enjoyed together. It was delicious!

Thank you, Catriona and Caitlin, for sharing this special cake with us.
