Coronation Day at Albany Lodge

Albany Lodge Nursing Home residents and staff had a busy week last week, decorating our home in preparation for King Charles III Coronation. Staff and residents blew up all the balloons and helped to put up the bunting ready for the party to start. Our Lifestyle team were very busy ensuring everyone had a union jack bow or a gold crown, whichever they wanted to choose. Our residents were very excited to celebrate with the King on his special day!

Our Chef, Adam, had been very busy researching King Charles favourite foods. These were chosen to prepare for the day of the party. Adam prepared and cooked, the signature quiche, sliced lamb on a bed of crushed peas, coronation chicken, and devilled eggs, to name a few. We also had jam and cream scones and crown shortbread. A wonderful cake was made for the day with lovely strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries to make up the Union Jack Flag. We were all feeling very much in the mood to celebrate.

All our staff dressed up for the occasion, our Lifestyle Team chose to dress in red, white, and blue with our matching bows! We managed to capture lots of staff and residents dancing to the music, and i have to say, we all had some great moves! Some of our residents’ families and friends joined us for the special occasion, it meant so much to us all.

We welcomed the D Day Dollies who came to sing for us. This was enjoyed by all of us present and to start the party off our Lifestyle Lead Bear sang to the residents and staff.
