Hair and beauty day

Going to the hairdresser can be an enjoyable treat for anyone – you’re pampered, primped, and made to look and feel good.  But for someone with dementia, it can be all that, plus a source of sensory cues, memory triggers and much-needed support.

Oaklands House actively encourages all our residents to visit our hair and beauty salon, with a soothing environment in which they can rest and enjoy getting pampered, whether it be having their hair done or a manicure, which was a lovely treat for one of our residents celebrating her birthday.

Hairdresser day at Oaklands lifts everyone’s spirits up! Our residents feel good after a session with Mags as she makes them feel comfortable and connects with them and chats while meeting their care needs. When residents leave, they feel relaxed, staff and residents always compliment them after which makes them feel special!
