King Charles III Coronation Day

On Saturday, the 6th of May, all our residents from Solent Grange Nursing Home watched the King’s Coronation on tv’s either in the lounges or in their bedrooms. At lunchtime, a table was set up for residents so they could eat their roast lamb – fit for a king. They continue to watch the celebrations and raise a glass or 2 to the King!

After lunch, residents headed up to our lounge on the middle floor, where John from Independent Arts joined us in celebrating and providing live music to our residents based around the coronation.

On Sunday the 7th May we had, THE BIG LUNCH, here at Solent Grange Nursing Home. We have a fantastic chef, Emma Pearson, who takes great pride in preparing and making sure all food is prepared freshly and presented to a high standard. This couldn’t have been done without the help of her kitchen team, Daisy, Ben, Mario, George, and Vicky. They put on a fabulous spread of high tea food for residents, family, and staff to enjoy all together with street party vibes.

This was followed by our in-house SOLENT GRANGE ROYAL QUIZ, by our activity co-ordinator, Sarah, where residents and families all team up and join in. Sunday Quizzes are a massive hit in our Care Home and a lovely way to finish off the celebrations.

They didn’t stop there, as on Bank Holiday Monday the 8th of May, Solent Grange Nursing Home joined in with ‘THE BIG HELP OUT’. We had emailed and arranged with Melissa Bowyer, at the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, to get a group of 7 residents with mixed abilities/care needs aged between 60 & 95 and 6 staff members from Solent Grange Nursing home, mobile, wheelchair, & dementia, to go and volunteer at the sanctuary by helping to plant, flowers, fruits and veg and the team at the sanctuary were extremely accommodating and very thankful with the offer.

We are looking forward to going back and volunteering again.
