Love Parks Week

Our lovely Oaklands residents and staff had a delightful time celebrating Love Parks Week. Love Parks Week gives people across the country the chance to acknowledge their wonderful green spaces. We are fortunate to have several Country Parks on our doorstep and chose to go to the beautiful Royal Victoria Country Park.
After alighting the bus, we took a stroll down to the seashore to take in the welcome sea breeze. We sat for a while, taking in the sights, sounds and sunshine. Partially sighted resident Flo said, “I can feel the sea spray on my legs and it feels wonderful.”
We ambled up to one of the two cafes, admiring the facade of the Royal Victoria Military Hospital Museum on the way, chatting and laughing.
We stopped for tea and biscuits at the cafe and resident Rose said how much she loved watching the children play.
With half an hour left before pick-up, we enjoyed another stroll, this time up to the mini railway, and more of the park.
Royal Victoria Country Park has recently secured a coveted Green Flag; this rates it amongst the best in the world! Well done to all the teams and volunteers that keep our parks beautiful.
All our residents said what a lovely time they had and embraced all the sensory stimulation the park had to offer.
