Oaklands Summer Fete

The morning of our fete dawned bright and sunny and everybody breathed a sigh of relief that the weather would be good.
With all the last-minute placements completed and stallholders ready with their wares, we were ready to welcome residents, relatives and friends for a day of fun.
Our fete, with a 60’/70’s style theme, which was spread over 4 separate areas. The courtyard hosted live upbeat entertainment with singer Debbie Cobbett and the vintage café supplied delicious cakes and beverages. Willow garden was home to fairground-style music and stalls, with a coconut shy, hook-a-duck, splat the rat, ping-pong, hat toss, guess the name of the ragdoll, photo booth, guess the amount of sweets in the jar, candy floss, popcorn, sweet trolley and Barbeque. Cedar View Garden held a range of craft and fete stalls from The Body Shop, books, candles, crochet flowers, handmade jewellery and even a Christmas and Halloween stall. And reception held the bottle stall, tombola, lucky dips, adopt a pre-loved teddy stall and the main raffle. All the stalls were well attended, the music enjoyed, and both children and adults had great fun on the fairground stalls. Oaklands embraced their many visitors, with the large numbers, the staff worked very hard and we are also extremely grateful for the volunteers that had given their time to help make this event such a special day.
