Remembrance Day at Steep House Nursing Home

Last weekend, at Steep House Nursing Home we dedicated time to remember the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces Communities. Residents engaged in meaningful activities, crafting their own poppies while listening to wartime sing-along songs, fostering an atmosphere of reflection and camaraderie.

Among the residents, Florence shared memories of covering windows for blackout and hearing distant planes. Ernie recounted his school days, vividly remembering air raids and the impact on his community. Their firsthand accounts added a profound layer to our remembrance.

We gathered to watch the poignant remembrance service from the Cenotaph, standing united in a 2-minute silence. As Laurence Binyon’s words echoed, ‘At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them,’ we paid tribute to those who served.
