Safe Haven Animal Pet Therapy Farm

We all appreciate the benefits that having a pet can bring to someone’s life. For elderly pet owners, who often live alone or in group facilities such as a care home, pets often help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, increase social interaction and improve physical activity. So, when the team at The Boynes Care Centre learnt of the was opening of Safe Haven Animal Pet Therapy Farm, Sam Buckley, Activity coordinator was one of the first to contact the farm to organise a visit for the residents.

The farm has been set up to provide animal therapy to people living with dementia, disability, mental health issues, reduced mobility and special needs.

From time of arrival smiles filled the faces of the residents and they met and learnt about some of the animals. The residents are already eager to go back!
