St David’s Day

St David’s Day….Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus

At Steep House Nursing Home, we have been very busy celebrating. We coloured in some daffodils to put up on our board. We learnt some things about Wales, like the fact that there are more than 3 times more sheep in Wales than people and that the Menai Bridge was the first road suspension bridge in the world. We also had a go at saying the longest place name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch..which means St Mary’s Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St Tysilio near the red cave.

Our wonderful administrative manager, Sarah, made us Bara Brith, a Welsh fruit bread, which was delicious and brought her dad’s miners lamp, Welsh scarf, and flag for us all to look at. We finished the day listening to Aled Jones, Tom Jones, Welsh choirs, and other Welsh music and singers.
