New entertainer

We had a new entertainer at Acacia Lodge, Richard is a saxophonist. The residents loved it. He played a grand selection of old romantic songs which made the ladies go all dreamy and lots of the jazz/dance numbers that they had such happy times to when courting.

Pet therapy with Bailey and Cookie

Hamilton residents enjoyed pet therapy with Bailey and Cookie. While companionship is an obvious benefit, a well-timed pet visit may also help with anxiety and depression. It’s not uncommon to watch someone transition from emotionless to joyful when a pet enters the room, especially if it triggers pleasant memories.

Bingo afternoon

Hamilton residents had a very enjoyable Bingo afternoon! Bingo is one of the top ten activities for older people living in care homes. Bingo is a sociable game and encourages conversations and interaction between players. It is one of the activities that people with a dementia such as Alzheimer’s can enjoy too.

Visiting Haskins Garden Centre

Residents at Oaklands enjoyed a trip to Haskins Garden Centre to see all the Christmas Decorations. Children in Need

Solent Grange celebrated Children in Need with a Pyjama day and a little party. We raised money and gifted food. It was also lovely to bring staff and residents together!

Mince pie day

On Monday the 13th of December we will be supporting a local hospice Sobell House, with ‘Mince pie day’. There will be mince pie themed activities, decorations and staff will be invited to donate to Sobell house in exchange for mince pies also!

Elf Day

On Friday the 3rd of December, we will be supporting The Alzheimer’s society by celebrating ‘Elf Day’. Staff will be invited to dress up as elves to promote the day and orientate the residents to the season as well as give them a some laughter! Those dressed up will also be asked to donate.

Daily physical activity is necessary for good quality of life among the elderly. At Cedar View Care Centre, we like to combine exercise and fun. This afternoon, we’re playing ball games, an activity designed to help with range of motion and fitness.
